Carbs can be found in foods like bread,
pasta, rice, cakes, candy, and basically anything that is not
meat. There are good carbs and bad carbs. Bad carbs consist of
those carbs which are high in sugar and have very little
nutritional value, if any at all. Some examples of bad
carbohydrates include white breads, pastas, rice, sweets, and
white potatoes. Those types of carbs are composed mostly of
sugar, and sugar is what holds on to fat. Some examples of good
carbs are whole wheat cereal, bread, rice, pasta, and most
vegetables. A diet that contains absolutely no carbohydrates
will work great in the beginning for maximum fat loss, but
diets that work will still allow you a large variety of food to
choose from.
Low carb diets have a very high success rate
when it comes to fat loss. The reason being is because they do
not spike your insulin levels. They can also be great for those
with diabetes. With any diet, you should focus on eating every
2 to 3 hours. But remember to be very choosy about the carbs
that you ingest. Carbs like broccoli, carrots, apples, whole
wheat breads, cereals that are high in fiber and low in sugar,
and red skin potatoes are a great choice for someone on a low
carb diet. You should always allow yourself at least one day
per week to eat whatever you like in order to avoid
discouragement.
With any of the diets that work, you must
always include exercise for optimum weight loss. This means at
least three sessions per week of cardio activity. It can be
walking, running cycling, or a combination of all three.
Combining your cardio activity with some weight lifting is also
great for fat loss, and that is because one pound of muscle
burns up to nine times more fat than no muscle at all. You do
not need to focus on being a body builder, but a little weight
lifting can go a long way.
You may have to ease into your low carb diet
before diving in head first. It is normal in the beginning to
experience intense cravings for the high carb foods that you
are so used to eating. Just ignore them. The first three days
are the hardest, and everything after that is psychological.
Before you know it, you will be wondering why you ever craved
those carbs that are so bad for your body and you will be
reaping the benefits of your newer, leaner, and healthier
body.
